11/9/1975– God’s Plan Fulfilled
The Son of God was present at the meeting of the Trinity when that voice broke the silence of eternity announcing that human beings would be made in the image of God. He was there when God breathed in through the nostrils the breath of life and man became a living being. God made human beings, so he knows them. But has this modern world some new insight, something that outstripped even Jesus in wisdom about the salvation of the world? Is there a streamlined method of saving the world? NO!
God’s plan is the only plan for salvation of the world. People for two thousand years have tried to find shortcuts to salvation but to no avail. The plan that Jesus brought to earth, to seek and save that which is lost is the only plan. Every Christian is a living letter for Christ to a troubled world. Your life and my life, if we are Christians is a living letter for the Kingdom of Christ. If it is not, then we are remiss in our lives as Christians.
Jesus was not unmindful of the difficulties involved in carrying the Gospel to a lost world. He was wounded for our sins. He had to agonize in Gethsemane, stand firm before Pilate, and carry his cross up the hill of Calvary and die an unthinkable death for us. Every human being is dear to Christ, everyone counts to Him, a poor man has a chance, a sick man can get well, an ignorant man can become wise, a good man can become better, and a dead man can be made alive in Jesus Christ. Christ has paid the supreme price for us. The apostles understood this glorious Gospel to be for the wide world. We are not to preach tolerance and philanthropy, but rather Christ crucified. It is our duty to establish relationships between human beings, between races, between nations, by means of the Gospel. The Gospel is Good News that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
I am glad there is no puzzle to put together, no mystery to solve— just believe in Him. This Gospel is the world’s greatest love story, and it is what we need to hear, and to be happy that it has been our privilege to know this love.
