There are many many good restaurants in Lexington where I live, in fact there are more restaurants per capita than in any other large city in America, but no Spanish ones worth talking about. Now when I say Spanish I do not mean Mexican or Tex-Mex. I mean actual Spanish food. And fortunately there is an excellent one in San Antonio that we decided to sample—- simply called Toro Kitchen and Bar.
So what does a genuine Spanish restaurant (with chef from Madrid or Barcelona) serve— well of course there are yummy Tapas.
But the most famous Spanish dish is Paella….. which involves rice, veggies, sauce, and sausage and seafood….. and and and…. and it is delicious and very filling
But of course there are other great dishes like calamari…
As it happens we were in the wine room….
Can you say Sangria? I knew you could. There are lots of things to remind you, you are in a purely Spanish restaurant and by the way, how is your Spanish?
And there is more. I didn’t even have time to tell you about famous Spanish desserts like churros with chocolate, or crema Catalana. But that’s for another day. My advice, if your town has a good genuine Spanish restaurant, support it— and a good time will be had by all.
