The go to museum for Impressionist lovers is Musee d’Orsay. Hands down. And it is a lot less swamped with tourists than the jam packed Louvre. So let’s consider what they have to show us…. but first, one has to have a stop at a proper Cafe and Sweet shop, namely La Duree. But first lets take a water taxi down the Seine, and see a few sites on the way. Orsay can wait until the next post.
Look closely at the side and see the Olympic rings. In fact, everything in Paris is advertising the Olympics, including of course Buildings and Coke–
Cruising down the Seine you see the back of a lot of things… including MontMartre with its cathedral in the distance and part of the Louvre, which of course used to be a huge in town Palace.
Here’s where we got on the water taxi….
And then saw this….
We were already salivating for La Duree.
How about we start with some Croque Monsieur with baked ham and cheese inside, while Ann had an avocado salad.
But the real piece d’resistance is of course the desserts! Here’s a pistachio milkshake
Or little tiny petite fours…
La Duree is surely the most famous of these fancy sweet shops….
As the cover of the menu says– since the time of the Impressionists– since 1862. So when in Paris, forget about American fast food if you can….and try something else for la petit dejeuner.
