F-1— The Need for Speed

F-1— The Need for Speed

It’s not just the technology that’s speeding up, everything seems to be in a world of fast food, fast tech, fast wifi, and of course fast cars. And none are faster than Formula One cars, sometimes doing actual road races, some doing races on a track.   This movie has received some good reviews, and surprisingly the movie itself is not fast— 2 hours and 38 minutes, though the content makes it seem much faster.  I saw it in HD and with Mega sound, with the sound track featuring classic rock, starting with Led Zepplin’s classic Whole Lotta Love.  The stars of the movie are Brad Pitt and Javier Barden, and a couple of other, and in a summer of weak films, this one is constantly engaging and slick like a formula one car.

In various ways, this movie is like the sort of thrill ride that the Top Gun movies were, and not surprisingly you have a Jerry Bruckheimer production.   This is a good summer popcorn. Not a classic movie, but a nice diversion on a hot summer afternoon.
