Overwhelmed by His Love

[I Love the LORD] I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. — Psalm 116:1-2 (ESV)

If you read the full Psalm, it’s beautiful. I picture the king being in a place of grief and loss and yet being fully aware of how much the Lord loves him. Why do any of us love anyone? Why do we love the Lord? For me, it’s because He first loved me and showed me what real love is. Only He reached down to this child and picked me up when I was battered, bruised, scarred, terrified and He covered up my disgrace. He showed mercy on me, when I had no idea I needed it. He listened to me when I didn’t know it and he answered my prayers when I didn’t even know He cared. Therefore, like the king, I will call on Him, as long as I live and I will give Him praise, despite my feelings or doubts. Jesus is the most wonderful person who ever walked the earth and Jesus is so worthy of our best. How can we NOT praise HIM for HIS LOVE…. may today be a day of being slayed by His Love. Praise His Name.
