This week I posted a nice article on how the Creed can transform and guide your faith on Theologues. I love how the Creed offers us the story that God is inviting us into and helps contextualize our lives within the very life of God. I encourage you to take a peek over at Theologues where the article is posted and let me know what you think in the comments there. Are there any ways you would add? What would Number 11 be for you? I have listed each of my reasons below, read the full article to find out more. Take a look!
1. Beginning with the Father gives us our setting in context.
2. Making the second article about Jesus helps us ground our faith on a solid foundation
3. By describing Jesus as “Christ”, we are given our backstory.
4. By describing Jesus as “Son” it grounds God in love and us in God
5. Describing Jesus as “Lord” we are given an antidote to the regimes that seek to bind us.
6. Describing Jesus as “born of the Virgin Mary” articulates the depth of the healing Jesus brings, and the heights toward which the healing leads.
7. Ending the second article with resurrection and eschatology offers us the last pages of the story (spoiler alert: love wins).
8. The third article invites us into the action
9. The Church’s four marks are how God writes us into his story.
10. The Creed’s end reiterates for us that God’s mission extends to us all.
