Resurrection Rolls

Resurrection Rolls April 18, 2011

We have loved making these Resurrection Rolls in our house for the past couple of years! They are simple and delicious, and the message really hits home for the kids. I have altered the directions below a little bit – instead of doing this all on Easter morning, I prepare everything from steps 1-4 on Saturday with the kids, and then refrigerate the rolls overnight. Then, in the morning I can pop the rolls into the oven, and we can celebrate Jesus’ Resurrection. Either way, it’s a fun and easy activity with the kids – enjoy!

Resurrection Rolls:

You will need:
1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
8 large marshmallows
melted butter
cinnamon
sugar

1) Give each child one triangle shaped section of crescent roll. This represents the tomb.
2) Each child takes one marshmallow which represents the body of Christ.
3) Dip the marshmallow in the butter and roll in cinnamon and sugar mixture. This represents the oils and spices the body was anointed with upon burial.
4) Lay the marshmallow on the dough and carefully wrap it around the marshmallow. Make sure all of the seams are pinched together well so that the marshmallow does not ooze out of the seams!
5) Bake according to package directions.
6) Cool, and then break open the tomb and the body of Christ is no longer there!
7) Celebrate the great mystery of Easter!
