The Week started out tragically last week and spilled over into this week as violence and war continued to dominate the news and history. May the peace that God desires for all humanity be realized before too many more innocent lives are lost by the conflict between the leaders who lead their people.
. , @dismasop (October 9, 2023) A lot of people are going to have very visceral reactions to the Gaza-Israel conflict, because it’s very personal for them. Most of these reactions will be at least cringey, if not awful, from little data. And that’s human and understandable. Regardless, pray.

Quotes of the Day
Mother Adela@motheradela (October 9, 2023) Today, Guatemala is in a serious situation of violence. Another country suffering lack of peace, the horror of violence and destruction. We face a terrible crisis in the world? Pray the rosary for peace, said Our Lady. Let’s create a chain of rosaries to defeat this evil spirit.
Jaymes--Lantern@JaymesLackey (October 9, 2023)It doesn’t seem particularly hard to say:(1) Hamas targeting civilians is evil(2) Israel’s treatment of Palestinians has been and continues to be evil(3) Christ is always on the side of widows, orphans, immigrants, and the poor and stands against all violence and empires. -
Pope Francis@Pontifex (October 9, 2023)One of the tasks of the #Synod is to journey together and to listen to one another, so that the Spirit can suggest to us new ways and paths to bring the Gospel to the hearts of those who are distant, indifferent or without hope, yet continue to seek “a great joy” (Mt 2:10).
You do not need to echo the talking heads. You do not need to have a hot take.
Show us instead the small, mundane, beautiful moments of your early autumn. The bright apples, the unearthed blankets, the baked goods.
All infinitely superior to opining on The Current Thing ™.

Quote of the Day
Father Jim Sichko@JimSichko (October 11, 2023) We need to acknowledge that too many critics of Francis speak from an anger that defeats itself and ends by being unjust. His commitment to the poor, his emphasis on mercy, his passion for accompanying the lost and alienated, and his willingness to reach out to the margins: all these things are gifts to the whole Church. They deserve our gratitude and praise. So does his teaching on issues like gender, the sanctity of life, and bioethics . . . much of which is ignored by the mainstream media.

Spooky Canadian Monarchy Respecter @CdnMnrchyRspctr (October 14, 2023) Guys, its not that complicated The synod is a meeting, not a teaching element. The pope just wanted a giant consultative body to do lots of fun listening. At the end, no doctrine will change, no defecting will occur. There will cringe opinions cause sinners live in the church.
