Journey to November December 2023 Movies

Journey to November December 2023 Movies November 9, 2023
Mark: This film actually looks like it will be violent and Kristin thinks she would like it. Sometimes she surprises me with her film choices.

Kristin: It looks like a fun romantic drama/comedy which brings a broken relationship back together. After 20 to 25 years. Meg Ryan looks older then she did in Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail. But it looks like she directed this movie. The movie looks quite enjoyable.

Mark: Why is this rated R? Language? It does look like a good romantic comedy if they turned The Terminal plot into one.

Nov 04, 2023

Kristin: It looks like there is government upheaval, possible sex trafficking, and lots of arguments. But as there was no english subtitles and the story takes place in India I can not guarantee i would follow it. It looks like it could be a very important story to tell and an interesting movie to watch. What is it about?

Mark: I didn’t rewatch this trailer to write about and forget what it is about.

100% Planet Earth III: Season 1 (2023) BBC America/AMC+  YouTube

Kristin: I do not know if I have seen Planet Earth 1 or 2. This documentary series looks like something from National Geographic would put out and a science teacher would have students watch in the classroom in middle school or high school watch the entire class time or maybe even over the course of 2 days of class. It looks intriguing and s0mehow also relaxing when it brings you back to the sounds, sights and wonders of our natural planet earth.

Mark: It’s great they have a series that gives a retrospective look at our home here on earth. It’s good a camera and sound crew traveled and captured areas of life I would never witness for myself if I was to see it in person.

The Santa Clauses: Season 2 (2023) Disney+   YouTube

Kristin: Seriously! Another one. How many of these non-Christmas Christmas movies are out there. How many of them star Tim Allen? Really? It might be  a little funny. But I don’t know if I would really want to waste my time watching yet another new Santa Claus movie.

Mark: I saw the original film series and didn’t watch all of Season 1 of this show. I supposed it could be fun to review the whole franchise. Movie Pitch has done the world a favor by creating this.

Nov 10, 2023

Kristin: Really absolutely No Thank You. It’s not the sort of I would enjoy. You can only do so many superhero sci fi movies. Then they just become extra annoying. So I’m all set with this one. You watch it.
Mark: I still am working on Loki season 1 and Guardians of the Galaxy 3 but yet I might journey to the theater to watch this so I can review it for this blog. It looks like another exciting Marvel film.

Kristin: It looks like it would be touching and fun. I feel bad for children who are stuck in boarding schools where they end up with very little interaction with their parents. Especially people who have more than enough money resources and connections but not enough time  to show their children how much they truly love them and want them to be a big part of their lives. Sometimes people, well off people, send their children to posh boarding schools and have them spend the whole summer at summer camps. I do not think this is a good way to raise your child especially if you are more than capable of giving your child the love and affection a parent should give their child. I have opinions about rich parents who send their kids to posh building schools.
Mark: Looks like a interesting coming of age story with some inappropriate cosmetic humor.

Kristin: It looks very creative. Turning the birth of Christ and all that came before the actual birth and perhaps into his childhood, I don’t know yet, into a musical is catchy. It looks entertaining, even fun. I would enjoy seeing this movie this Christmas Season. Preferably between Christmas Eve and all through the Christmas season, not necessarily during Advent.

Mark: What a genius idea to bring the nativity story into a fun sing along musical.

For All Mankind: Season 4 (2023) Apple TV+  YouTube

Kristin: No, that’s okay. Yet another space movie. How many of those do we have? Even Wall-E was a space movie. Never mind the likes of Star Wars, Star Trek and countless space movies. When is enough enough?

Mark: I haven’t seen any of the other seasons but this alternate history show  looks like something I might actually enjoy.

Tuesday, Nov. 14

Kristin: This trailer looks frightening. There is a part of me who thinks it could be interesting and another part of me who just found it almost like a horror show.

Mark: It has some inappropriate sexual stuff and some thrilling murder mystery stuff.

Thursday, Nov. 16
 85% Ghosts: Season 1 (2019) 9 p.m., CBS (*broadcast premiere) ( YouTube)

Kristin: I quite like the show Ghosts. We have watched probably all of the American shows that they have  put out thus far. We have watched some of the BBC version of Ghosts. I find both versions very funny, interesting and enjoyable. I look foward to seeing more of the BBC version when it airs here in America.

Mark: I would like to watch the new season but they never put it on HBO when I had it. It’s equally as funny as the American version. A crossover should happen no matter how improbable.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters: Season 1 (2023) Apple TV+  YouTube

Kristin: No thank You. This movie looks somewhere between confusing scary and annoying. I don’t know how I put those three together but I just have no desire to watch it. I can’t pick the right words to describe why this doesn’t fit my interest level. It’s more annoying then interesting.

Mark: I’m sure my friend Spencer whom I haven’t heard from in quite some time would love this show. It looks epic fun and thrills. It will be a blast to watch this.

 YouTube

Kristin: If this movie is like the first or second movie, also called the Hunger Games, I strongly dislike the theory behind the overall plot. I would not choose to watch it.
Mark: I may or may not have listened to the third book all the way through. I don’t remember how it ended but I remember not liking the books as they they went along. I never did see Mocking Jay Part 2 and forget Mocking Jay Part 1. But still I would like to watch this film just to review it.
Mark: My sister Mary used to like the original Troll dolls. Deacon Steve the Catholic movie critic voiced publically how he would not watch this film series. It looks colorful and cute and manufactured  with some catchy tunes.

Kristin: The movie trailer reminds me of Bend it Like Beckham, though the most they have in common is probably the fact that soccer plays a big role in the plot. It comes across as the underdog team with no shot eventually coming together to do well like so many sports movies do. It looks fun and I laughed in a few places, so i think it would be a very entertaining movie and would consider watching it should it stream live into our home. I also like true stories.

Mark: Most sports movies have similar plots and outcomes. But yet each one is original in and of itself. This one looks like another fun and funny sports film that’s great crack and a laugh.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off | Official Trailer | Netflix – YouTube

Kristin: Way too many flashing light scenes. I had to turn my eyes away because the lights bother me and can set off my Epilepsy. Some may enjoy this. Perhaps that would include tweens and teens who enjoy anime and maybe video games. I cannot tell if this is supposed to be about real characters or a video game.

Mark: The live film version was fun and this looks the same.

Dashing Through The Snow | Official Trailer | Disney+ – YouTube

Kristin: It could be and perhaps is quite fun. They are gearing this movie to kids who still believe in Santa. My biggest problem is when Christmas movies mention nothing about the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mark: Santa Vs. some bad guys in another secular Christmas movie. It’s amazing how you can constantly make new mythology about Santa where he uses more new techknowledgey as opposed to magic. Maybe this Santa could square off against Tim Allen’s Santa.

The Railway Men | Official Teaser | Netflix India – YouTube

Kristin: I am not sure what exactly is going on in this trailer. I can tell that it is a horrible problem  for the people living in a certain part of India and a true story because it says so in English. I would like to know more but would need the show to be dubbed or have subtitles that give you extra time to read them. I am sorry for those who suffered and died because of this unnamed (well to me anyway) tragedy.

Mark: This reminds me of the HBO series Chernobyl. A manmade disaster true story set in another country and the brave men who did something about it.

Squid Game: The Challenge: Season 1 (2023) Netflix  YouTube

Kristin: I do not believe I would enjoy this show. It looks annoying and I do not like the fact that people are playing it for a ton of money. But in order to win you not only need luck you need friends to turn against. Not fun.

Mark: A reality show based on a fictional Hunger Games style like show is an interesting idea.

Good Burger 2(2023) Paramount+ [movie]  YouTube

Kristin: This looks as if Bill and Ted took jobs at a messed up burger bar. It looks like something younger people perhaps tweens would find funny. I can tell it is meant for humor. However it does not fit my style of enjoyment.
Mark: Didn’t see the first one but this looks like a silly bunch of slapstick with two Laurel and Hardy/Jerry Lewis type of guys including the funny guy from Saturday Night Live. A little too much gross humor but some good word play.

Leo (2023) Netflix [movie]   YouTube

Kristin: This movie looks like it could be a lot of fun. It looks very creative and that its audience is geared for children. I like the animation style. I have enjoyed some of Adam Sandler’s works over the years. He can be very funny and an enjoyable actor to watch. I really love his Hanukkah song.

Mark: A fun and funny animated Adam Sandler movie with him playing a depressed lizard.

  YouTube

Mark: It’s another Disney princess movie that could break the trend of recent not so popular Disney animated movies. Perhaps in a few years they’ll want to make a live version of this film.
Mark: A movie where everyone dreams of a certain man. A movie that Nicholas Cage I think can pull off. It looks like it could be a cult classic with something worth discussing afterwards.

November 25, 2023

Doctor Who: The Star Beast   YouTube  Disney+ – YouTube
Kristin: I cannot watch this without thinking of David Tennent and Katherine Tate as Lauren Cooper during a skit in which they are in an english class in which he was the teacher and she the sassy student who was supposed to be listening to him teach about Shakespeare and all she wanted to know was if was in fact Doctor Who.
Mark: I hope they go all out for the 60th special. Brining back David Tenant is excellent.

Saltburn | Official Teaser Trailer – YouTube

Kristin: It doesn’t interest me. It looks like Sex Drugs and Rock and Roll. I was expecting something with a little more culture especially when it appears to take place in an old castle like building, which I assumed was in Ireland, England or Scotland. The story itself is very unclear, if you know nothing about it accept for what you see in this trailer.

Mark: I didn’t watch this again so I could comment on it and I forget what it is possibly about.

Kristin: I’m all set with that from what I saw. It was only a little bit that they show you about the movie. What they show you is a natural disaster monster on the loose. Rather tragic unless it’s one of those movies where terrible violent things happen on the earth but nobody really gets hurt and dies. I’m allset. I have no desire to watch this movie.

Mark: Godzilla truly is one of the longest running cinematic franchises. He’s appearing in this film and the Apple + series. You can’t keep a giant monster dragon lizard down.

Candy Cane Lane (2023) Prime Video [movie]  YouTube

Kristin: It may be a funny movie. However we can tell from the trailer that Eddie Murphy got one special wish and instead of wishing for such things as an end to war and hunger ect., he wished for something daft though we cannot tell for sure exactly what he wished for. I don’t know if I want to see this movie or not. I guess I’m pretty neutral. But once again no mention of the birthday of Jesus though it is considered a Christmas movie.

Mark: A new magical secular Christmas movie without Santa. Not sure if Eddie Murphy has done the magical kids Christmas movie before. It looks like it has some wacky comedy and a moral lesson to learn.

December 2, 2023

Doctor Who: Wild Blue Yonder

Kristin: I was 9 years old when Thriller came out and though I was not allowed to watch MTV. They did show the Thriller music video large and on the wall at the roller rink while we were skating in circles. I really liked Michael Jackson’s music as did most of the kids in my immediate world at school. I would like to see this documentary so that I can get a better understanding of Michael Jackson back in the day and learn about his backstory. All I really know is there was Jackson Five. There was the music we listened to as kids. And then he died in his Neverland mansion. Learning more would be very intriguing.

Mark: I remember when Thriller came out. It is still a widely played album. I agree with many of the same things Kristin has said so I won’t repeat them here.

Dec 08, 2023

Kristin: The trailer does not give me enough story to make a good, fair judgement about whether or not it is enjoyable. Thoughts about life and death interest me primarily from a Christian perspective. I may have trouble following this movie if it has subtitles that move quickly or make it difficult to figure out which person or character is speaking.
Mark: Another new film from the man who gave us Spirited Away and which it looks very similar to. Along with some Grave of the Fireflies mixed it. It will be the animated film I would like to go out of my way to see.

Doctor Who: The Giggle

Dec 15, 2023

Kristin: When I first saw that this was gonna be about WW, I was skeptical because I figured it was just going to be another WWATCF rehash. However this movie puts a bit of a different spin on it. It looks very creative and it seems to tell the backstory of how WW became a chocolate factory owner inventor ect. I think this would be a fun and relaxing movie to watch.

Mark: A prequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that expands the mythology of the story by the director of the fabulous Paddington movies. Yes I want my imagination to expand, so yes it looks worth watching.

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget (2023) Netflix  YouTube

Kristin: It looks like it could be fun. But it lacks detail from just that trailer. I like the form of animation they are using. I did laugh a couple of times. It reminds me of Wallace and Gromit.

Mark: Looks like another fun rump with the chickens from Chicken Run and the makers of Wallace and Gromit.

Mark: Looks like a more family friendly version of Nobody. Could be a good adventure comedy. This trailer just came out and Kris hasn’t gotten the chance to watch it yet. She’ll love the kids and hate the violence.

Kristin: Yup. Mark’s Right. The family dynamics in this movie have an ideal family look. However the violence makes the movie a whole lot less family friendly. That is a big disappointment. it makes me go from wanting to watch this movie to not really wanting to bother.

Wednesday, Dec. 20

Kristin: Having watched this trailer and knowing nothing about the storyline ahead of time, all I can say is that other than reminding me a bit of Harry Potter, I still don’t really get what it is truly about. Therefore I cannot make a judgement about this series.

Mark: I saw the two movies made of Percy Jackson and listened to 4 out of the 5 books. The series could do the books justice or not. It is Harry Potter with Greek gods.

  YouTube

Kristin: Not my style. Looks violent. I can see where some people who like this style of film could enjoy it. Because it seems to have a plot that is easy to follow along with. There was flashing lights mixed with violence, a big turn off for me personally.

Mark: Looks like DC is going out with a bang. What if this one is successful. Will it ruin James Gunn’s DC universe plans and bring back the Snyder verse? I wasn’t crazy about Blue Beatle but loved Shazam 2 and The Flash.

Kristin: It looks like a fun and  creative movie with an audience of all ages. I would watch it. Probably find it funny and enjoyable.

Mark: What Kristin said.

 FREUD’S LAST SESSION | Teaser Trailer (2023) – YouTube

Kristin: If this trailer is truly based on the last session Sigmund Freud, I imagine I would find it quite interesting. I would like to watch this movie.

Mark: Funny, Anthony Hopkins played C.S.Lewis in another film. It will be good to see Freud go up against Lewis. Wonder if there could possibly a joke referring to that in the film slid in somehow.

Dec 25, 2023

Kristin: I do not like car racing. And I think it is ridiculous to consider it a sport because it does not really involve exercise. It is both sanitary and dangerous. Perhaps the story around the car racing will be interesting, but from what I have seen in this trailer I would not choose to watch this movie of my own accord.

Mark: Looks like an exhilarating drama about the man who gave the world the ferrari. Adam Driver is usually worth watching when he’s on screen.

Occupied City Movie  YouTube

Kristin: The trailer made me cry. On one hand as I like history and find such people as Hitler an unbelievable and unfortunately real human being. Evil took over during and just before WWII. As it had and continues to do so throughout different parts off the world and in different ways throughout all human history.

Mark: Not sure where the documentary is going but it could be interesting.
