This is the 4th and final article in my series on covenantal theology and infant baptism. Thus far, I have made efforts to explain why so many American evangelicals do not understand Infant Baptism, highlighted fundamental differences between Covenant Theology and Dispensationalism, and built a scriptural basis for the practice of Infant Baptism within the church today. This article highlights several passages in the New Testament that present anecdotal evidence of Christians operating within a covenantal, theological framework. I will freely... Read more

In baptizing the infants of Christians, we visibly proclaim to the world that his child is set apart, and will be brought up under the theological and cultural teaching of the church. We are passing on the law of Christ to the next generation in corporeal sense. We do not believe that infant baptism saves, but we recognize the child is marked with covenant sign of grace.  Read more

A song like WAP can’t be produced without the cultural and social milieu in which we find ourselves. There is a natural progression of thought and practice that must take place, both on an individual and national scale, to create an environment that is not only friendly to such a vile song, but promotes it as a sex-positive message for women. In one sense, those shocked and appalled by the lewdness of a song like WAP haven’t been paying attention.... Read more

The Minor Prophets are often quite neglected in the church today. Some find them inordinately difficult to interpret due to the genres these books employ, especially as they can cover the range of poetic, dialectic, prophetic, and apocalyptic styles all in one fell swoop. Others struggle to see the relevance they have within the church today. Some of this is due to a Marconian influence in failing to see their relevance to New Testament believers, whether that’s intentional or not.... Read more

I’m not convinced the Internet has been anything but a net loss. I truly mean that sentiment. The rather obvious truth is that the Internet has been used for much good. We have the world’s wealth of information at our fingertips. We have access to theologically orthodox and robust sermons, blogs, books, and the like, and we have near instant access to them. We are able to communicate with people around the world in an instant—making the physical limitations in... Read more

I wrote a post not too long ago that caused a firestorm of controversy on social media, calling on Christians to look at the life of Ravi Zacharias as a profound warning. In it, my basic plea to people was that they consider their own ways before the Lord—that they see if there were patterns of besetting sin that would not only disqualify pastors from the pastorate, but even if the everyday layman was plagued with sins, which the apostle... Read more

On August 28, 2008, the Lord put to death a man who was an atheistic, drug-addled dealer, womanizer, drunkard, liar, thief, idolater, and suffice it to say: the fool of fools; the laziest of sluggards; the chief of sinners. I have the “exciting” testimony that many within the church are eager to lift up as an example of God’s grace and faithfulness. I came to Christ in a rather uproarious manner. Not only was I arrogant enough to think out... Read more

Christian, a day is coming when you will be forced to make this very decision: plow forward or look back. At that moment, you will be coaxed to remember a simple, worldly life that didn’t care about attacks on scripture, truth, human dignity, or the person of Christ. Read more

I’ll admit the title of this blog post can be immediately perceived as inflammatory—but the truth of the matter is that this really is how I came to be a Calvinist. I remember sitting down over a cigar with a dear family friend (who married my wife and I) and we were discussing predestination and election. He is an Arminian and has been for years, so naturally, we butted heads in our understanding of salvation. At the time, I was... Read more
