Love Letter 32

Love Letter 32 October 9, 2014

Dear Barbara,

It’s your turn again; in fact it’s going to be your turn for a while. God I love you. I love the way you feel when I wrap my arms around you. I love the touch of your kiss and the deep breath that lets our embrace close in, tighter, comfortable, intimate, enduring. Those hugs tap something enduring that we share. The roller coaster ride we share is part of it for sure. Who knew life would twist and turn and soar and drop us and then bring us back to do it all again. Sometimes I need the center and the confidence your hug provides – always that safe place – even if just for a moment. You remember that Bond movie we saw not that long ago? James was skiing down the mountain while snowmobiles on parachutes chased him and tossed grenades along his way. They started an avalanche so he, ever the gallant gentleman(?) grabbed the girl in trouble, pulled the rip cord on his jacket and they were immediately enveloped in a warm, safe cocoon as the snow piled around them. That’s what your hugs are like. (Sorry about attracting all those snowmobiles; they seem to follow me around.) You’re the best sweetheart. It’s not just that I could not love the rest without your love surrounding me, it’s that I wouldn’t know how to love all of these other dear wonderful people for whom I write if I did not first love you. Right now, before I get home, imagine by arms around you and my lips touching yours. Can you feel the warmth and electricity? Just wait a little bit; you will. I love you.

Your lover forever – Sam
