Red Tape: How Fox News Disproved Republican Christianity

Red Tape: How Fox News Disproved Republican Christianity January 18, 2024

Don’t look now but “Republican Christianity” was never a thing before or after 33 AD. To the followers of Jesus who reside in a blue state, the “Amen” chorus is getting loud. However, there is no archaeological or theological proof that “Democratic Christianity” was a thing either. There is Biblical proof that Jesus was a man of purpose for a “one-party” populace.

Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and 24 elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying: ‘You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for you were slain and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation.’ (Revelation 5:8-9 NKJV)

If Jesus went on MSNBC, there is no way His message would reach 50% of this polarized nation. The same would happen if the Lord was a guest host on Newsmax or CNN. It’s just how the media registers with people today. The majority of Americans don’t want the news; they want their news.

That brings us to FOX News.

You won’t believe what happened on their air on January 2. Now, this isn’t a post to lampoon one network over another. Rather, it’s to put one segment under the magnifying glass in hopes that it smokes ideas like goofy kids did with a random ant hill. (Present company included.)

Meet Paula Roberts. a British “Jill of all trades” who was invited to “Jesse Watters Primetime” right after the new year rang. She’s not the typical political pundit featuring on the network. According to her website, Roberts is a (big breath) “psychic, clairvoyant, seer, ghost hunter, remote viewer, handwriting analyst, and speaker.”

In case you missed it, and by the look of his ratings–you did, Jesse thought it would be a good idea to have Paula on the set reading her Tarot Cards and prognosticate how Election Day will go this November. Most Bible-reading, God-fearing people tend to watch Fox News for political insight, so this segment was a surprise, to say the least.

And not just the segment, but the bad news for the hopeful presidential candidate.

A “sense of loss” could not be what the segment producer imagined when booking Ms. Roberts. Regardless, the pain of this moment on Fox News is what it represented and what it should tell any Christian viewer of any network. This segment is not what Jesus would have imagined either.

Jenn Nizza, a former psychic who is now on fire for God and runs Ex-PsychicSaved.com told The Christian Post that the segment was “completely alarming” and “heartbreaking.” Later, she accused the normally Christian-friendly network of “pushing a demonic agenda.”

News Flash: It was. No Republican Christianity. No Democratic Christianity. It wasn’t even Christian. No altruism. No news. It was only entertainment. (And it wasn’t even good.)

The Proof Against Republican Christianity

How would Jesus vote?

Sure, conservative television appeals to more people of faith, but that doesn’t mean they speak for us every time. If a certain candidate becomes a convicted felon in December, will you proudly stand with him? Jesus Christ wasn’t a “political” figure, so it wouldn’t have mattered to what party he belonged. Following in the footsteps with the walk of God’s Son means going in the same direction.

Remember when Jesus was asked whether God’s people should pay taxes to the Roman Empire? Jesus answered like a politician, and it was still providence.

Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s. Give to God what is God’s. (Mark 12:17a NKJV)

The best part about that verse is how it ends. “And they marveled at Him.” That is what happens when you encounter holiness. Campaign slogans can’t do that. Buttons to bumper stickers, commercials to coffee mugs–only the Word of God can do that. Throughout his 33 years on this ruddy soil, Jesus never isolated someone for what they believed.

That is the person we worship and long to see one day. Who these outcasts voted for didn’t matter, nor did Jesus even ask. Politics is about preferences, subjection, and how someone believes a nation should be led. Yet, if America was truly considered “a sovereign nation,” which news network you watched wouldn’t matter at all.

“Republican Christianity?!” A vote for Republican or Democrat is not a vote for Jesus. Only a vote for Jesus does that!

There are Godly people on both sides of the political fence. Why? Because there are Biblical morals there. Conservatives are pro-life for the voiceless, Biblical lifestyle literalists and loyalists, and advocates for reaching anything God has in store for you. Liberals are pro-life for the voiceless as well, most of those live in poverty or never had a fair shot at life. They also are champions of public education and equal rights.

Although research says “Republicans are more likely to believe in Heaven,” it doesn’t mean the people they want to see on the news act like it. Jesus did all of those things, except one–He never judged someone on who they liked, preferred, joined, or even hated. We do that every November in one fashion or another. We shouldn’t, but maybe if every Christian sees that heinous segment on Fox News with godly vision and hearing, less would.

Besides, she’ll probably be on CNN or MSNBC next year. Keeping up with the Joneses, you know.
