Hell, No: Amazon Prime Cartoon Praises Satan, Blames God

Hell, No: Amazon Prime Cartoon Praises Satan, Blames God February 1, 2024

As the streaming network for the largest company in the world, Amazon Prime offers content unique to other competitors–documentaries, auteur films, and animated series. Unfortunately, not all of that content is accurate, uplifting, or even better than watching a Howard the Duck marathon.

Recently, they launched a new “adult-oriented” animated series called Hazbin Hotel. And, if you’re a Christian who gets a little offended when people mock, make fun of, or outright blaspheme God, you’re going to hate this.

Did you watch that entire sacrilegious trailer?

That wheel of eyes is from the Book of Ezekiel. But, sure, it’s only a prophecy about Armageddon. No biggie to make fun of it, right?

Isn’t that cute? Lucifer was ” a dreamer” who made “fantastical ideas” for all creation but, he was seen “as a troublemaker” whose thinking was “dangerous to the order of their world.” Yeah, that would be Heaven, and don’t you feel bad for witty bitty Beezlebub? Poor slew-footed patron of ungodliness.

And then, he met Lilith and romance bloomed. Wait, what?!

Lilith? Where’s Eve during the creation of Earth?

Well, Eve was God’s “I’ll-try-again” creation. Lilith, according to Mesopotamian and ancient Jewish lore, was Adam’s first wife. Since she was mouthy, independent and took issue with her sexual orientation, Lilith left Adam and began her 4,000-year journey of the planet.

You don’t recall her in Bible study about the creation of humankind and the fall of man, right? That’s because she’s not there. Lilith was mentioned once in the Bible, kind of.

The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest. (Isaiah 34:14 KJV)

No Lilith? Watch this from the Amplified Version.

The creatures of the desert will encounter jackals and the hairy goat will call to its kind; Indeed, Lilith (night demon) will settle there and find herself a place of rest. (Isaiah 34:14 AMP)

Yes, she is the “screech owl” or “night demon. Today, Lilith is the archetypical symbol of female empowerment. That’s why she was the mascot for the women’s rock concert tour “Lilith Fair.” Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton were just too warm and fuzzy for women’s liberation icons, I guess.

And now, thanks to Amazon Prime, she’s the heroine of a cartoon. Although it’s adult-oriented, don’t fool yourself. This vile, sardonic garbage will be available for kids worldwide. Many parents will just see a cartoon, while Christians see something much, much darker.

Where are the Standards for Amazon Prime?

Make no mistake, streamers are billion-dollar ventures. None are solely dedicated to Christian tastes, outside of PureFlix, UP Faith and Family, VidAngels, and a few others. If that’s your fancy, buy those apps and support them.

However, that’s not the world the major apps live in. They all air content that represent all tastes, genres, and proclivities. If you don’t like what they air, change the channel, choose another app, or buy one of those aforementioned streamers. This is the commercial world where, to use a Biblical reference, they are all things to all people.

But even they should have some standards.

They have an obligation to protect viewers. People can make their own decisions and put in some sinister evil stuff for home entertainment, but potty-mouthed music has a stick for parental advisory. “Cartoons” like this should emblazon a warning over this. If this is your thing, we’ll pray for you. But this series is wrong on so many levels.

In Hazbin Hotel, Lucifer is more King Arthur, steeped in nobility, and less “temptor,” “accuser,” and permanent resident of the “Lake of Fire.” Because…why? It’s fun and kids need assortment in their plush toy catalog?

According to The Christian Post:

The series, created by animator and YouTube personality Vivienne Medrano, is based on a pilot that became a hit after it debuted on YouTube in 2019. The original pilot, made with the help of freelance animators and her Patreon subscribers, went viral and has since garnered nearly 95 million views.

We have some praying to do! There is a hurting and lost world looking in some dank and dreary places for entertainment. And now, Amazon Prime is one more.

Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”

(Luke 23:34 NJKV)

Those holy words have never been more true. Jesus will have the last word. Hopefully, after this series is cancelled.
