As time passes, the desire for Jesus’ return grows stronger. Just ask the former chief executive officer of Intel, who packed up his $12M golden parachute after he was unceremoniously shown the door to invent “Gloo.” The reason why three months in the ether wasn’t enough to stay gone?
“My life mission has been to work on a piece of technology that would improve the quality of life of every human on the planet and hasten the coming of Christ’s return.”
Patrick Gelsinger had some free time on his hands since his much-maligned “turnaround plan” caused a 66% drop in its stock price from the moment he was hired. His ardent focus was to take back its market share from Samsung. Well, that didn’t go so well. So there’s that.
The born-again Christian was jonesin’ for a TV camera, so he delivered a keynote address at one of the notable “AI for Humanity” events. This event is hosted by Colorado Christian University and presented by The Christian Post.
The faith-based news outlet got its money’s worth when Gelsinger noted that his new AI company will have Jesus get the lead out for all that “come back for His bride” thing. As if AI can really impact the timing of Jesus’ Return...or can it?!
The man has forgotten more about technology than most people on the planet have learned. Does he know something the world doesn’t? He may not have undertaken serious theological and religious postgraduate work, but he seems certain that AI can bring back Jesus soon. Is that possible? Will he prove that AI can measure the Second Coming of Christ?
Let’s explore that murky thought, because if he can…most of us need to rethink our walk with Christ.
Before we explore how AI could do this, stay in touch with other faith-based issues that hit “close to home.” Subscribe to our free newsletter and stay informed about what’s happening in the Church, as well as the ways real Christians can contribute to defending the love and work of Christ.
Can AI Bring Back Jesus, or is This Guy Sniffing “Gloo”

Now that Patrick Gelsinger has put the Church on blast, he has gone full “Blues Brothers” now that he is executive chairman of Gloo. He labels the AI-based company as a “Technology Platform Connecting the Faith Ecosystem.” The irony has escaped the tech juggernaut because if Jesus’ return did speed up as a result of AI, the faith ecosystem would be disconnected in the twinkling of an eye.
Once that trumpet sounds, bro, we are out of here! Glory to God! However, Gelsinger thinks AI will do some uniting before we blink. That, and as he shared during the conference, “I want Zuck to care.”
There was no breaking news about Gelsinger’s personal mission to save the Meta founder and CEO, but stranger things have happened. Back to his oddball claim, what does the former Intel CEO know about AI that we don’t? He is an avowed believer who once referred to Silicon Valley as his “mission field.” His desire to hasten Jesus’ return seems to stem from a sincere place of devotion and love.
“The church embraced that great invention of the day to literally change humanity,” he said. “So my question today is: Are we going to embrace and shape AI as a technology that truly becomes a powerful embodiment of the church?”
AI can do many things. And much like Christians, those works aren’t always good, and those powers aren’t always used to extol the glory of God. Never mind, lonely people are conversing with chatbots as if they are God, what if the “hastening of Jesus’ return” that Gelsinger is referring to is due to the evil AI can create?
James Cameron May Have Been Right

In 1984, the Oscar-winning director James Cameron gave us a neo-noir approach to scifi and scared the bejeebus out of the world with his tale, The Terminator. At that point, we were told a cockamamie story about computers actually learning to detect human thought, emotion, and logic. Imagine that: Machines putting humans out of work and becoming the most influential “employee” on a staff.
If you spend any time online or at work, you know his dystopian take on the human race defending itself from these machines is a little more real than even the muscles on Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the series, fans are told about an artificial intelligence network called Skynet. The Department of Defense developed it for assistance. What they got was a program-gone-rogue gaining self-awareness and launching a nuclear arms race on humanity.
And now we have Patrick Gelsinger telling us AI will hasten Jesus’ return. What if AI gained self-awareness and left people no hope for a future? Does Jesus return for His bride to rescue us, instead of reaching for us?
It’s a question that sounds like a rallying cry for conspiracy theorists, but it begs consideration. During that message, the Intel CEO didn’t say how AI could expedite the Rapture. He only mentioned that it could. What if this tool becomes one of Satan’s tools? What if that hastens the end of the world, but in a bad way?
Before you answer that question, ask yourself this: “Has AI been used for anything bad?” We’ll wait for your reply. Pass that Bible while you’re sitting there, too. Okay?
