Healing Prayer for use with Online Rituals for Covid-19

This is a prayer I wrote to use with the Polytheist Network Healing Circle. Because of the Covid-19 epidemic, we are doing online rituals. Our first one was this morning and it went very well. I felt the energy and connection as did the participants. I was asked by a participant if they could use the Healing Prayer I wrote, and of course, I said yes.  I thought I’d go ahead and share it here as well. We used my Neo-Pagan Ritual Outline which you can find here.  If you’re hosting an online ritual using call and response prayers is a way that everyone can be involved without having to deal with lag time.  Chants are difficult online, and toning only works when everyone has a good connection.  Call and response is a good way to build unity and energy in an online communication medium.

We lit a candle as our candle of healing before the prayer, and afterward, we toned to raise energy for the healing of all those affected and all those who are suffering. I encourage everyone to do their parts in these difficult times, including donating food and resources to local food banks, supporting neighbors, reaching out through online contact to those who are alone, sharing what you can, and most of all, staying home. It’s funny how easy it is when you are rebelling from going out and how difficult it can be when it’s exactly what you’re supposed to do.

Healing Prayer

Call and Response: The person acting as the priest/ess says each line, and all participants respond with “Heal the People.”

May the power of the sun’s light
Heal the people
May the power of the bird’s flight
heal the people
May the power of the storm’s force
Heal the people
May the power of the river’s course
Heal the people
May the peace of the stars be with us
Heal the people
May the fire of hope be with us

May the love of the earth be with us

Afterward we spent some time toning, and then moved into gratitude practice and shared a poem by the Mad Farmer Poet, Wendell Berry.  We will be meeting every Sunday at 11:00 am EST as part of the Polytheist Network to support the work of all those who are struggling and healing in this time of crisis.  May you find safety and healing.
