Family

Family August 7, 2009

We’re going to my husbands family reunion tommorow. It made me think of my own family and my history. I have all the pictures from my father’s family, and it’s quite a collection. Slowly I’ve been scanning them in, and eventually I want to learn how to restore them. The one above is of my grandmother from Scotland, Mary Pirie and her sister Bertha. Honestly, I’m not sure which is which! There’s a old family tale about how the Pirie name came to Scotland. Supposedly, there was a destitute French nobleman hoping to marry into money, and he met a Scottish woman who was also hoping to marry into money, as well as the aristocracy. Not exactly a match made in heaven, and they were to give birth to a line of fishermen in Buckie, Scotland.

Jean Reid and Isabella Cuthbert Buckie during WWI they were part of the Red Cross. The one on the right is my great grandmother, Isabella.

This one is of Nellie and Irving Hill, my paternal grandfather’s father and his wife. I love Nellie, I’ve mentioned her before, she’s always smiling. I believe my grandfather is the eldest son.
