I’m so excited, I wanted to share my latest Etsy offering. It’s a Valentine’s day garland! I’ve been having so much fun making these out of a old songbook I picked up. It’s so exciting to be actually using up some of my stash. I can’t help buying these things and I love creating with them. I love how having an Etsy store is helping me focus on making things rather than letting all my lovelies sit on the shelf.... Read more

I’ve been collecting postcards for a while now, so I was excited when I found a venue to share them! Over at The French Factrice she hosts Postcard Friendship Friday! So here I am, and here’s my first postcard. I love the colors on this one and the smiles on their faces. Here’s the backside of the postcard. I love the cancelled stamps. The message is mostly about how cold our sender is while she’s visiting Montreux Switzerland. It’s dated... Read more

My mom came up from Detroit this weekend for my oldest daughter’s birthday (she’s six now!) and brought me some good stuff from my Grandfather’s basement, one item being that lovely dilapidated book that was his when he worked as a machinist. You can see below it’s got all these fun little diagrams and charts that I so enjoyed making a mess with! So after the party and everyone left, I got out my paints so I could art. I... Read more

We’ve had a nice thaw for the past couple of days. It got up to 43 degrees today, so we went for a walk to the park and I took the opportunity to take a few photos. I was really enjoying the reflections in the puddles and the lacy tree branches today. I wish I could share my whole sensory experience over the internet. The smell of the earth was on the gentle wind, combined with the aroma of the... Read more

I just finished another apron and I wanted to show it off! I made it out of a pillowcase and added a couple of pockets. I’ve become obsessed with aprons recently. I know I’m jumping on the bandwagon of apron awesomeness here, but I think it’s well worth it. They’re functional and so fun for showcasing pretty fabrics and using up remnants. I’m planning on making one for every day of the week. I’m absolutely in love with the aprons... Read more

these are a couple of sketches I scanned and played with in photoshop. I love the gradient map function It’s like coloring without the work. I noticed a ghost shape in the first sketch. Between the hands is the march hare from another sketch that was picked up in the very light spectrum of the gradient map. I thought it was kind of odd and funny so I left it rather than blur it out. He looks kind of creepy,... Read more

I know it’s probably too late for anybody else to do this, but I absolutely love saving those heavy duty twist ties from all the piles of toys my daughters receive every year during the season of red and green. Besides looking like some sort of odd sculpture in my little container, they’re so useful! They’re so much stronger than the usual twist ties, I use them in my art, in the garden, to fix toys. They’re like bendable duct... Read more

Now that the cat’s out of the bag and all my gifts are given away, I wanted to share some of what I made for my loved ones this holiday season. I love making hand made gifts, but I always start too late and end up making a bunch of them in January and February. Luckily, I have good friends that put up with me 🙂 So the booties are for my friends second child, Jasmine. I loved making them... Read more

Instead of a resolution, this year I’m choosing a word to inspire and help focus me for the next year. I got the idea from Leah over at Creative Every Day, who has chosen the word Flow. I love the idea of going deep into a word, really embracing a concept and exploring it fully. It always amazes me how much inspiration and guidance you can find in small things. A word, a rock, a moment watching the wind and... Read more

This one started as a dream and evolved from there. I had an image of incense sticks burning brightly with swans through the smoke. I’ve been having a lot of swan dreams lately. the swans in the painting are cut from a book of victorian poetry. I love using old papers in my paintings, it’s becoming something I do in almost all of them. I feel like I’m about half way finished with it. I need to work on the... Read more
