Like me, many readers here are probably now entering into a Sunday School curriculum year focused on the New Testament. So it might not be inappropriate, today, to share a couple of verses from the Qur’an — there are a number of them — about John the Baptist. The translation is mine.
“At that, Zechariah called upon his Lord, saying, ‘O my Lord, give me good posterity from you. Truly, you are the hearer of supplications.”
“So the angels called to him while he was standing and praying in the sanctuary, [saying] that ‘God gives you good tidings of John, confirming a word from God, honorable, chaste, and a prophet from among the righteous.”
