“We’re born alone, we live alone, we die alone.  Only through our love and friendship can we create the illusion for the moment that we’re not alone.”

Orson Welles

I believe Orson Welles to have been profoundly wrong in what he said above.  The truth is so much better.

Here’s a passage from the late Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, the famous expert On Death and Dying.  She’s listing three reasons why it’s impossible for anybody to die alone:

Note the reunions depicted in the mural on the wall.

“The second reason why we cannot die alone is that we will always be met by those who preceded us in death and whom we have loved. This could be a child we lost, perhaps decades earlier, or a grandmother, a father, a mother or another person who has been significant in our lives.”

I believe Dr. Kübler-Ross to be as right as Orson Welles was wrong.
