Sometimes, I confess, it’s embarrassing to be so . . . well, COOL.

Sometimes, I confess, it’s embarrassing to be so . . . well, COOL.

Me, being cool
This photograph of me was taken during a previous bout of extreme cool.

There’s been non-stop, wall-to-wall good music here at the “Jazz Bash by the Bay.”  Thus far, though, I would say that my favorite act has been Tom Rigney and Flambeau.  So far, we’ve seen them twice.  And I especially enjoyed it when they were joined by Bob Draga.  Which, I’m told, will happen again tonight.

I got a special kick when I realized that Tom Rigney is the son of the late Bill Rigney, who was the first manager of the California Angels.  I remember him well from my boyhood, though I was much more of a Dodger fan than an Angel fan.  Apparently he was fairly musical, and  while one of his sons, after earning a degree in history, went on to work in professional baseball like his dad, his other son, Tom, earned two degrees in fine arts at Harvard before becoming a professional musician — and a very exciting performer.

The guitarist for Flambeau, Danny Caron, is also absolutely superb.

I bought several CDs from them.

I’m afraid, though, that, if I play them while at the wheel, I’ll be ticketed over and over again for speeding.
