The expensive comedy of the United Nations

Will Rogers used to wonder why people objected to politicians.  “After all,” he was fond of saying, “we have the best politicians money can buy.”

 

It’s a slightly different point, but I sometimes wonder why some conservatives want to stop U.S. funding of the United Nations.  (America picks up 20% of the tab.)

 

After all, where else could we go for such high entertainment as this:

 

On Monday, the U.N.’s Human Rights Council, led by a troika of the Netherlands, Botswana, and Saudi Arabia and including such human rights stalwarts as Cuba, will begin a review of alleged police misconduct in the United States.

 

No comment is really required from me, I think.
