My wife and I took in a showing of the latest Mission Impossible film tonight.

Good clean fun.

Lots of shooting, lots of things blowing up.  Bad guys.  Car chases.  Intrigue.  Wheels within wheels.  Clever twists.

No lasting significance, but definitely entertaining.

And, to top it off, gorgeous music from Puccini’s Turandot, which may be — I have a hard time deciding — my very favorite opera.  A big dose of it in a scene set at the Vienna Staatsoper, where we’ve spent some time, but also at least two beautiful snippets actually worked into the film score later on.

All in all, exactly what we were in the mood for.
