This offers an opportunity for a little discussion here:
Are there any hymns not in our current hymnbook that you would like to see included? (“Amazing Grace” would be one of my nominations. “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing” would be another.)
Are there any hymns currently in the hymnbook that you don’t like and might like to see removed? (There are several that I would banish.)
I have no problem whatever with “Praise to the Man.” I know that it bothers some, but I like both the melody and the sentiment.
And I love “If You Could Hie to Kolob,” though I admit that that verse about there being “no end to race” does grate a bit on contemporary sensibilities. (It’s not talking about “race” in the sense of ethnicity, but about the human “race.” Still . . . )
Anyway, what do you think?
