A few weeks ago, my wife and I watched a Norwegian disaster film called Bølgen (or, in English, The Wave). It was surprisingly good (e.g., frightening). And the disaster that it portrays is appallingly realistic, even probable.

The film was particularly striking to us because we were there, in Geiranger Fjord — which is the very place where the plot is set — at the end of August. It’s a dramatically beautiful place, although this movie makes me wonder if I ever really want to go back there!
