Incidentally, when critics attack the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for offering historically inaccurate art, I expect that they have images such as this one in mind as the starkly contrasting alternative. Here, a European artist has gone to enormous research effort in order to present the desert plains of biblical Mamre and the nomadic tents of ancient Near Eastern bedouins with meticulous accuracy.
