Interpreter As a Lifeline

Interpreter As a Lifeline March 17, 2020

The Brox sisters listen to their radio
During this time of plague, contagion, pandemic, social distancing, and home confinement, eager fans of the Interpreter Foundation across the nation and around the world tune in on Sunday nights to hear tidings of goodness, truth, and beauty.  They have come to think of the Interpreter Radio Show as a lifeline, a vital connection to the world beyond.  But now they can also hear those same tidings, and grasp hold of that same lifeline, throughout the week!   (Library of Congress public domain photograph)

To the surprise and considerable irritation of its most devoted critics, the Interpreter Foundation continues to produce, even in this time of official national emergency and international health and economic crisis.

Here, for example, are two new items from Hales Swift:

“Baptism Understood in Light of the Tree of Life Vision (2 Nephi 31)”

A Video Supplement for Come, Follow Me Book of Mormon Lesson 10: “This Is the Way” (2 Nephi 31-33)

“Cleansing One’s Garments (Jacob 1)”

A Video Supplement for Come, Follow Me Book of Mormon Lesson 11: Be Reconciled unto God through the Atonement of Christ (Jacob 1-4)

And here’s a helpful piece from Jonn Claybaugh:

Come, Follow Me — Study and Teaching Helps: Lesson 13, March 23 – 29: Enos, Jarom, Omni, Words of Mormon

FDR on the radio
An as-yet unidentified Interpreter Foundation volunteer participates in an early installment of the Interpreter Radio Show, on 11 January 1944.  He was plainly very ill at the time, but he was determined.    (Wikimedia Commons public domain photograph)

Finally, here’s another scripture roundtable from the Interpreter Foundation:

Audio Roundtable: Come, Follow Me Book of Mormon Lesson 13: He Works in Me to Do His Will: Enos-Words of Mormon

Neal Rappleye, Jasmine Rappleye, and Hales Swift were the discussants in the Interpreter Radio Roundtable for Come, Follow Me Book of Mormon Lesson 13, He Works in Me to Do His Will, on Enos-Words of Mormon.  This roundtable was extracted from the 1 March 2020 broadcast of the Interpreter Radio Show.  All commercial and other interruptions were removed from this archival recording, which is available to you absolutely free of charge.  The complete show may be heard at https://interpreterfoundation.org/interpreter-radio-show-march-1-2020/.

This item is an official one, from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:

“How the Church Is Inviting the World to ‘Hear Him!’ 200 Years Later”

This one is not an official production of the Church, but I find its suggestion and its argument intriguing.  If you haven’t already seen it, you might enjoy taking a look at it.  It runs just under thirty-five minutes in length:

“Movie: How Lovely Was The Morning”
