In God’s Image and Likeness 2: Enoch, Noah, and the Tower of Babel: Moses 7: The City of Enoch
Part of our book chapter reprint series, this article originally appeared in In God’s Image and Likeness 2: Enoch, Noah, and the Tower of Babel (2014) by Jeffrey M. Bradshaw and David J. Larsen.
Abstract: This chapter comments in detail on the prophecy of Enoch, and on his grand vision of eternity. In the first part of the vision, we see how the stories of rescue and exaltation in the accounts of Noah and Enoch share a common motif of water. In the case of Noah, this has reference to the Flood. In the case of Enoch, he witnesses the bitter tears of four distinct parties: God, the heavens, Enoch, and the earth. In the second part of the vision, the prophet witnesses the exaltation of his people, and an account of the return of their city to the earth in the last days.
