Polaris and friends
In this very-long-exposure (7+ hours) Wikimedia Commons public domain photograph, taken in northern Arizona, stellar trails circle about Polaris, the Northern or Pole Star.

This passage from John D. Barrow, The Book of Universes: Exploring the Limits of the Cosmos (New York and London: W. W. Norton and Company, 2011) — Dr. Barrow is a professor of mathematical sciences at Cambridge University — reminded me of something:

[T]here is a geographical dimension in the myths about the sky and the nature of the universe around us. Far from the Equator, in Scandinavia and Siberia, we find legends of the great circle in the sky: the millstone at whose centre the gods reside.  The nearest star to the centre of the celestial swirl was given a special importance, hosting the throne of the sovereign of the universe around whom all the stars were arrayed.

Compare Abraham 3:2-3

And I saw the stars, that they were very great, and that one of them was nearest unto the throne of God; and there were many great ones which were near unto it;

And the Lord said unto me: These are the governing ones; and the name of the great one is Kolob, because it is near unto me, for I am the Lord thy God: I have set this one to govern all those which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.

Compare also the explanation given for Abraham Facsimile 2, Figure 1:

Kolob, signifying the first creation, nearest to the celestial, or the residence of God. First in government, the last pertaining to the measurement of time.

Unfortunately, some have been hying too rapidly Kolobwards:

ABC News:  “30-year-old dies after attending ‘COVID party’ thinking virus was a ‘hoax’: The man told nurses, “I think I made a mistake.””

I think this short article extremely interesting:

The Atlantic“The Role of Cognitive Dissonance in the Pandemic: The minute we make any decision—I think COVID-19 is serious; no, I’m sure it is a hoax—we begin to justify the wisdom of our choice and find reasons to dismiss the alternative.”

Deseret News“Know thy enemy: Biotech startup joins fight against COVID-19 with cutting-edge genetic testing”

“A biotech company with a big Utah footprint is among the leading innovators of a cutting-edge technology for assessing the genetic footprint of pathogens like COVID-19.  And the tool could become the new frontline defender when, inevitably, a mutated version of SARS-CoV-2 evolves or another pandemic-potential superbug arises.”
