“Human words fail to express this experience.”

Was Darwin wrong?  I continue my notorious war against reason and science by sharing this interesting article:

“What Darwin Didn’t Know About Evolution: New aspects of evolution have come to light with the introduction of advanced technologies that didn’t exist during Darwin’s era.”

Is it possible, is it even conceivable, that we might not have science entirely nailed down yet?  Are we open to “the unsettling possibility that physics as we know it might be very wrong”?  “Is dark matter the new ether?”

And, since I’m obviously going for controversy today, I might as well include this article, as well, which may well hit some readers pretty directly:

Two points from the next item:  (1) Gotta love socialism, whether of the National Socialist or Communist kind.  (2)  Human potential is never fully realized in this life, but some cases are almost unbearably sad; that’s one of the reasons that the idea of an afterlife is so attractive:

“The tragic story of Hans Hellmann: The pioneering quantum chemist was forced to leave Nazi Germany because his wife was Jewish. He was executed in the Soviet Union because he was German.”

Some notes on the light that’s very commonly associated with near-death experiences, drawn from P.M.H. Atwater, The Big Book of Near-Death Experiences: The Ultimate Guide to What Happens When We Die (Charlottesville, VA: Hampton Roads Publishing Company, 2007):

In most cases, a light appears at the end of the tunnel, and experiencers note that is where they are headed — a light described as brighter than the sun but that doesn’t hurt their eyes if they look at it.  This light is invariably experienced as loving, intelligent, accepting, forgiving, and ever so wonderful.  (28)

Following his encounter with his deceased uncle, Scott became aware that he was being ‘escorted’ through a dark open place toward a distant light.  He described the light as being brighter than the sun but it didn’t hurt his eyes.  He felt that this light was God, and he felt safe in its presence.  (30)

From one Gloria Hipple, of Blakeslee, Pennsylvania:

A white light, the brightest light I have ever known or will ever see again. . . .  It was so bright, yet it did not blind me.  It was a welcome, calming light.  (32) 

From Tannis Prouten, of Vancouver, British Columbia, who was twenty years old when she had an out-of-body experience:

Gradually, a light started to appear ahead of me.  Very rapidly I was enveloped within this most divine, living, golden-white light, my home.  The joy, bliss, humility, awe were beyond human capability to bear.  The light was an infinite, loving, accepting being without form.  It had personality.  It communicated with me telepathically.  It was pure truth.

I was the light and the light was me.  I was still a unique, separate, point of consciousness with the same sense of humor and awareness that I had always had, but the paradox is that I was more.  I had become homogeneous with the light.  I was all love, wisdom, truth, peace, joy, for all eternity.  Human words fail to express this experience.  (27-28; italicized words are all capital letters in the original)
