Ummm. Cheese!

The news offers a plenteous supply just about every day for even the most voracious Christopher Hitchens Memorial “How Religion Poisons Everything” File.  Here are a few recent examples:

“Latter-day Saint Charities Blessed Millions of Lives in 2019: 2019 annual report details the work of the charitable arm of the Latter-day Saints”

“Latter-day Saints Distribute More Than $6.3 Million #LightTheWorld Donations to Charity: Global Charities Receive More Than $3.2 Million Dollars from Latter-day Saints at NYC Distribution Event”

“‘Ward families’ may account for Utah’s marriage success: David Brooks calls for ‘forged families.’ Latter-day Saints already have ‘ward families’”

This is a relatively old one, but you may have missed it:

“Inside the church’s donation of masks, coveralls and goggles to China over the coronavirus outbreak: The coronavirus is a new virus with no vaccine or treatment, and finding a vaccine will take months”

And this is even older:

“Breaking news: Man gives 10 percent of his income to charity — what a revolutionary concept”

Jordan, Goodman, and Richins.
The original core of our Witnesses film crew (from left to right: cinematographer and co-writer James Jordan, director and co-writer Mark Goodman, and producer Russell Richins). Mitch Davis was the author of the original script, which has since been substantially modified by Brothers Jordan and Goodman. Who took this photo? Since James Jordan is the usual still photographer from the set, I have no idea. Diane Richins, perhaps?  I believe that it was taken while filming was being done in Old Sturbridge Village, Massachusetts.

Just a reminder that a special one-hour panel discussion on the Interpreter Foundation’s Witnesses film project will take place at the end of this week’s LDS Film Festival 2020, which is being held at the SCERA Center for the Arts in Orem, Utah.  It will begin at 5 PM on Saturday, 29 February 2020, and admission to it — as contrasted with the rest of the film festival — will be free.  Producer Russell Richins, director Mark Goodman, and co-executive producer Daniel Peterson will participate on the panel, as will, we hope, a special invited guest.  We will have an important announcement to make during the panel discussion.
