The “Secret” is Out!

Today, I am the bearer of sad news. The Secret of the universe has been discovered and apparently we Christians are not privy to it!

Over the past few weeks, the news media has been giving extensive air time to a new phenomenon. “The Secret” is a multimedia sensation – a book, movie and DVD (maybe cartoons, too, but I’m not positive) – created by Rhonda Byrne, a bleached blond, diamond bindi wearing Australian woman. In her seminal work, she appears to have unlocked the Universe’s most powerful force – The Law of Attraction.

According to Ms. Byrne, any one of us can manipulate the electromagnetic nature of the universe and through our very thoughts we can redirect the Universe’s hidden energy right back to us. As she told the audiences (in an odd, hyperactive, ditzy way) on both CNN and Oprah, “Life attracts life.” (Wow – just let that big ole’ deep thought roll around inside your head for a minute…)

Now, there’s a special formula to making this all happen: 1) Ask, 2) Believe and 3) Receive. It’s just that simple! If we merely do these three things, we can have everything we’ve ever wanted – that job, the relationship, the money (oh yes, the money!). And Oprah said this is exactly what she’s done and look at her!

All sarcasm aside, I’m not sure who’s going to break it to these folks that the Truth and the three steps to eternal life have already been revealed to all mankind. It’s not a secret, except to those who who want to stay in the darkness. It’s not a mystical credit card to be swiped when convenient, rather a chance at new life.

I believe I will stick with Jesus, my savior, thank you.
