I read in USA Today that Maria Bartiromo, a Financial Anchor on CNBC, has decided to trademark her nickname – “Money Honey” – presumably to enable her to maintain control over her image and to help her license products such as a clothing line and toys. Just last August, she was dissuading people from using the nick name. What kind of toy you can create from a news anchor who sells a sticky mix of sexuality and stocks — is beyond my imagination, but no doubt they have a full product line already to roll out.
When we go to work, what do we sell? Helping commerce is one thing – but peddling to humanity’s weakness is another.
What do you think? Is the “Money Honey” a little too much?
Money Honey flies on Citibank jet – questionable journalism?
