It’s still Christmas, so let’s keep the carols going… December 30, 2011

One of my favorites, from an old PBS special.  (The CD of this is a holiday perennial around our house.)  Kathleen Battle, Frederica von Staade and “Gesu Bambino,” conducted by Andre Previn.

Has anyone ever done this better?  I don’t think so.

  1. Yeah. Not something you’d want to wear while pushing the shopping cart through a crowded supermarket…

  2. Looks like a good fit for the Lawrence Welk show. Bring out the bubbles.

You are right on target that this is still the Christmas season. Some have their tree down, decorations put away, and focused on other things long before the Kings arrive.

Yes, I think it rather sad that we let the Carols die immediately after Dec. 25. Many people have no idea about the 12 Days of Christmas.

  4. It’s not too late for young Catholics to start a tradition regarding this. My husband and I always treat our children and grandchildren to a festive brunch at a restaurant on December 26. The kids are given the proverbial lecture about the celebration starting now. Last night, we enjoyed a family dinner with the carols playing in the background. It’s a part of Catholic culture that needs to be reintroduced with homilies at Mass. Perhaps even parish celebrations could be introduced.
