My favorite Super Bowl ad

No, it wasn’t the Budweiser commercial with the puppy.

It’s this, from Coca-Cola. This is the longer, extended version, with a 30-second prelude that I think is worth every second. Check it out below.

UPDATE: A friend pointed out that not everybody loved it, and sent me this piece from Business Insider: 

Coca-Cola kept one of its Super Bowl ads a surprise, and it ended up being a polarizing one.

In the spot — titled “It’s Beautiful” — “America The Beautiful” starts off being sung in English but is also sung in languages like Hindi, Arabic, and Tagalog. It highlights the multicultural makeup of the U.S. and even features a gay couple.

Right now, it’s looking like it will be the most-talked about ad in the game.

“Gay couple”?  What gay couple?  I must be blind. Or, maybe it was too subtle and I missed it.

Anyway: for my part, I was impressed, and touched, to hear “God shed His grace on thee” sung on national television in a beautiful and unexpected way, accompanied by images that expressed so simply and artfully the land that I love. This is America. Really.

And it is beautiful.
