EWTN employees more accustomed to running cameras, editing video and overseeing a worldwide religious TV network got their hands dirty on Friday.
An anonymous donor contributed $60,000 to Greater Birmingham Habitat for Humanity in honor of Pope Francis and his commitment to “work confers dignity.”
That money has been used toward construction of a Pope Francis house in the Center Point area that is nearing completion. It’s part of a new subdivision of Habitat houses built by volunteers.
Similar Pope Francis houses are being built across the country with donations made to honor Pope Francis and his commitment for assisting those in need.
“It’s a great fit with his message of serving those in need,” said EWTN Global Catholic Network Chief Executive Officer Mike Warsaw, who led a team of 50 EWTN employees working on the house on Friday. “This is a great opportunity to bring the Catholic community together to support the work that Habitat for Humanity does.”
