Cardinal Dolan to speak at Trump inaugural

Details from the Washington Post:

Six prominent clergy members — including a Catholic cardinal, black and Hispanic Protestant leaders and a rabbi — will pray at Donald Trump’s inauguration.

The inaugural committee told The Post on Wednesday that Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the Rev. Franklin Graham, Rabbi Marvin Hier, Bishop Wayne T. Jackson, the Rev. Samuel Rodriguez and Pastor Paula White will all give readings at the ceremony.

And there’s this:

Tom Barrack, the Presidential Inaugural Committee chairman, said in a statement that our “leaders have paid tribute to the blessings of liberty that have been bestowed upon our country and its people” since the first inaugural ceremony.

“I am pleased to announce that a diverse set of faith leaders will offer readings and prayers,” he said, adding that the leaders would “honor the vital role religious faith plays in our multicultural, vibrant nation.”

From what I can glean here, the last Catholic to offer a prayer at a presidential inaugural was the Rev. Timothy Healy, in 1989.
