Prayer request: search organized for missing priest

Details from Kansas:

Father Marvin Reif, 53, walked away from the Protection Valley Manor in Protection, KS on Apr. 3. A priest in the Dodge City Diocese, Fr. Marvin has suffered from mental illness for a number of years. He has served in churches throughout central and southwest Kansas.

A search party has been organized by family and friends to search the area where he was last seen. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Protection Valley Manor in Protection at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 13 (or later). Those with 4-wheelers and horses are needed. Search dogs and drones are also welcome. For information, contact his brother, Duane Reif at 785-735-8006.

Additional info:

Reif’s sister, Karen Winkelman, said the family has been searching for him ever since.

“Marvin has always enjoyed some quiet time and alone time so I thought it was just a very short time frame but now here we are on day three and it’s becoming more of a worry,” said Winkelman.

Family members have been putting up posters with Reif’s picture on it all around Protection and in nearby towns in hopes that somebody will recognize him and call 911.

“We’ve been driving between here and Ashland looking in the ditches and the fields. We’ve searched the church just anywhere we think he could possibly be,” said Winkelman.

Reif’s brother, Duane said sheriff departments from multiple counties are also assisting in the search and said they’re hopeful he’ll be found soon.

Please keep him and those who love him in your prayers this Holy Week.
