Christianity

The large majority of Americans — 77% of the adult population — identify with a Christian religion, including 52% who are Protestants or some other non-Catholic Christian religion, 23% who are Catholic, and 2% who affiliate with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Judaism

Today, the largest Jewish religious movements are Orthodox JudaismConservative Judaism and Reform Judaism. Major sources of difference between these groups are their approaches to Jewish law and the authority of the Rabbinic tradition.

Islam

Islam is the second-largest religion by number of adherents and the fastest-growing major religion in the world.  Muslims believe that Islam is the complete and universal version of primordial faith articulated by the Qur’an.

Hinduism

Hinduism is the religion of the majority of people in India and Nepal. It also exists among significant populations outside of the sub continent and has over 900 million adherents worldwide. Unlike most other religions, Hinduism has no single founder, no single scripture, and no commonly agreed set of teachings.

Baha’i

The Bahai’ Faith is a monotheistic religion which emphasizes the spiritual unity of all humankind.  According to Bahá’í ‘s teachings, the human purpose is to learn to know and to love God through prayerreflection and being of service to humanity.

Jainism

Jainism is one of the oldest Indian religions.  It prescribes a path of nonviolence towards all living things.  Followers of Jainism take 5 major vows: nonviolence, not lying, not stealing, chastity, and non-attachment.

Sikhism

Sikhism is a panentheistic religion founded during the 15th century in the Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent by Guru Nanak.  The central teaching in Sikhism is the belief in the concept of the oneness of God.  Sikhism considers spiritual life and secular life to be intertwined.
