Have you ever wondered what kids really think about Easter? Parents try so hard to teach sacred truths with fun symbols. How do you think children in your life would respond to questions about Easter? I wanted to know what children knew about Easter and how they would verbalize what they knew. 57 children responded to my survey. Kids are so candid.  I hope you enjoy reading this series of posts as much as I did. What is Easter? Paenoa (8)... Read more

“My dear friends, today I wish to share with you a special invitation. There are a few wonderful occasions in the scriptures when our Heavenly Father personally introduced His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, with a specific charge to ‘Hear Him!’ Today, this most important invitation from our loving Heavenly Father to listen to the voice of the Lord and to follow His teachings is extended to us. In this special year, as we commemorate the 200th anniversary of the First... Read more

This is the second half of accepting President Nelson’s challenge to study Doctrine and Covenants 25. The first part is Diving Into Doctrine and Covenants 25:1-7. President Russell M. Nelson invited us to “study prayerfully section 25 of the Doctrine and Covenants and discover what the Holy Ghost will teach you. Your personal spiritual endeavor will bring you joy as you gain, understand, and use the power with which you have been endowed.”  I’ve studied this section several times since President Nelson’s challenge.  This... Read more

This time around I decided to dive into the meanings of words to see if I could expand my understanding. Doctrine and Covenants 25:1 Hearken unto the voice... Read more

How are you adjusting to this new normal? I stare out the window watching a lizard lounging on patio furniture in front of my growing baby pineapple. The very slight breeze permeates calm throughout our outdoor space and through my open window.  In a flash, the lizard turns to face the other direction.  The pineapple reaches towards a sun vaguely peeking through the clouds. My husband sits nearby diligently working on his laptop to keep business moving along safely for... Read more

The temporary temple closure of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints closes temples to general temple service on Monday 3/16/2020.  I’ve felt a flood of emotions as I spent the better part of the past two days worshiping in the Lord’s sacred house. Thursday Before Temple Closure I’d just finished a session with friends visiting from Texas when I saw the news that Church meetings were temporarily suspended while still parked in the temple parking lot. As I... Read more

This morning as I read the Church’s announcement that general conference will be technologically distributed with no audience in the Conference Center this year, I thought, “God has a vision for each of us in our own homes!”  I thought of my post A Correlation Between the Coronavirus and the First Vision and how the virus was proving to be so distractionary. Then I settled in to read the 1832 account of the First Vision again. Entering the Grove of Trees... Read more

As we draw closer to April 2020 General Conference, my excitement is off the charts. What will happen during conference? Am I ready to receive what is promised by a prophet of God and available from heaven? The recent coronavirus outbreak and general panic brought new depth to my preparatory study. Why? I’ll explain that in a minute.  But just as a reminder, or background, let me start from the beginning of the thought process and quickly get to the... Read more

I stood on a green bluff, taking in the rolling fields of grass and vibrant trees, a quiet summer breeze stirring the air.  I saw foliage as far as I could see.  I wondered what untold stories unfolded in that beautiful place. Some of its oldest stories are my stories, too. Adam-ondi-Ahman is a valley, a city, and a temple site. In this place, Adam and Eve offered sacrifices, Adam blessed their posterity and the Lord appeared to them! Modern... Read more

Read this very interesting series of prophecies of the People of the Seventh Fire, the Anishinabeg people, and found them fascinating.  Hope you enjoy them, too. The Seventh Fire Neesh-wa-swi ish-ko-day-kawn’ The People of the Seventh Fire More than 1,000 years ago my people, the Anishinabeg, lived along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. There were so many and they were so powerful that it is said that one could stand at the top of the highest mountain, look in... Read more
