The Bryan Fischer award is given to those who show a staggering lack of self-awareness, accusing their opponents of their own worst sins. Rush Limbaugh, believe it or not, actually got it right on Todd Akin, slamming him for his idiotic statements. But listen to his explanation for it:
Surprise, surprise — the truly vile Bryan Fischer is supporting Todd Akin’s idiotic claim that women don’t get pregnant when they’re raped. If it’s a real rape, of course. He says Akin is “absolutely right” that a woman “may not” conceive because of a “delicate and complex mix of hormones.”
The Bryan Fischer award is given to those who display a staggering lack of self-awareness and are utterly oblivious to their own contradictions. The response of the National Organization for Marriage to the attack on the Family Research Council office is well deserving of that award. You may well want to double up on the irony meters for this one:
We have a two-fer for the latest Bryan Fischer Award: right wing radio host Janet Parshall and Dan Gainor of the Media Research Center. Gainor went on Parshall’s radio show recently to talk about the Chick-Fil-A situation and they actually claimed that conservatives don’t like boycott and only do them very rarely:

Right Wing Watch points out an interesting little juxtaposition. Jonah Goldberg of the National Review wrote an op-ed in the LA Times taking Mitt Romney to task for caving to wingnuts like Bryan Fischer in getting rid of a gay foreign policy spokesman. And he was pretty blunt about it:

And holy shit, the Heartland Institute deserves a lifetime achievement award for this one. After that disgusting, irrational and dishonest ad campaign comparing global warming opponents to serial killers and dictators, they actually released this statement:
And once again I have to ask the question: How much of a crazed loony do you have to be not to get on CNN these days? Even Bryan Fischer, who deserves nothing but scorn and ridicule, was on to spout his anti-gay hatred recently. On the other hand, I’m all for exposing these guys as exactly what they are. But I wish the show hosts would actually ask some hard questions instead of just presenting the two sides as equally reasonable.
I give away the Bryan Fischer Award to those who display a staggering lack of self-awareness and weapons-grade projection by accusing others of the things they are most guilty of themselves. And here Fischer demonstrates why that award is named for him by claiming that “people on the left” never check their facts and that’s why they’re wrong all the time. This from a guy who thinks gay people caused the Holocaust and HIV doesn’t cause AIDS.
