– Government of India's Portal – real neat!

I looked at the Portal… very neat looking thing. Though I did not have the time to go into it in detail.. but I looked at the Birth certificate link.. it gives a lot of information! It also gives a pdf format for the proforma application too … so it cuts the time that it takes to go through the hoops to first know WHAT TO DO?? In unorganized economies, there is a lot of cost to information. I believe this can reduce some of that cost! Good job! This is a good front end.. the next endeavour should be to link it to the backend… where we can apply for the birth certificate online!

THAT will be real e-governance!

In order to provide an easy and efficient access service, with a citizen perspective, to all government information and services on a single platform, the Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dayanidhi Maran has launched a national portal india.gov.in.

The portal will act as a gateway to online government services. It can be customized on the basis of visitors’ areas of interest and profile. The site has been developed by the National Informatics Center (NIC) and has sections on citizens, business, overseas, government, know India and sectors.
