Praful Madhav Chiplunkar is the grandson of Veer Savarkar (India’s Freedom Fighter) and an IIT graduate. He had a series of bad luck and sad events and now was found begging on the streets in Pune! This is a sad but quick reminder to all of us that we should thank God for being what we are every moment. Even the lifting of our leg is mechanically a miracle! For just one step that we take our body somehow accomplishes an option amongst hundreds others that could have stopped us from merely walking!
And it is nothing short of absolute miracle that our body and brain can work .. just work… forget working spectacularly as it would have in the case of this IIT grad! It takes one hurt to take even the most basic of things away from us!
How many kids in India stress over getting into the IITs.. but is that all that one needs to live life? I believe we ought to learn how to live life in a way that we can be content and happy and learn the basic Emotional Intelligence to tackle the worst that life needs to offer to us. That is not easy.
My heart goes out for Praful and I hope he gets better…
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activist Sanjay Dongre said that as soon as Praful’s identity was confirmed, the MNS decided to rehabilitate him. ”Praful is fine now and we will look after him”, Dongre said.
Praful is the son of Savarkar’s daughter. He is a IIT graduate in chemical engineering from Delhi. After working for an Indo-German Company in Thailand and even the Aditya Birla Group, Praful was burnt in an accident while handling some instruments. He was in hospital for six years at places including Delhi, Mumbai and Pune. He met with an accident in 2002 in which he lost his wife and son. He has, however, recovered from the trauma and can recollect his past, Dongre said. Praful, since worked as a watchman in a shop and later lost that job as well, which forced him the streets to beg for a living.
