Jalianwala Bagh Massacre was perpetrated by the British against Indians in Amritsar. According to private sources, over 1000 were shot in cold blood! Every one was aghast at the murders.
Today we are free. Sadly, last week India had its yet another "Jalianwala Bagh" moment. This time the perpetrator was the our own Government. At least 14 people were killed and 70 injured in Nandigram, about 150 km southwest of Kolkata, on Wednesday in police firing.
This is the same Government that beats its chest about it being the "champion" of the poor and against commercial interests! Why did they do it for? To beat back a protest against industrialization in West Bengal! These sick and dastardly idiotic communists in India should be put in a long camp – tough one – to teach them that India is NOT communist China.. but democratic India!! And there is a goddamn difference between the two!
The most amazing thing. Not a single word from the other "champions" of the poor like Arundhati Roy or Teesta! Had this happened in a BJP ruled state.. then? These advocacy whores choose their topic with great selectivity!! Principles be damned! Medha Patkar is there because she was working with those folks.. what did she have to say? ‘I have nothing to say. This was coming,’
The whole country rose up against Jalianwala Bagh.. Udham Singh survived the shootings as someone fell over him.. and vowed to kill Dyer.. for which he went to London. Will such incidents see similar effects?
He said industries could not be set up on the bodies of peasants.
"I am aware of the brutalities committed by the British, now I find CPI (M) is behaving as brutally as the British," Advani, who along with eight other NDA leaders visited Sonachura where the police firing took place, told reporters.
"In Sonachura village the police is asked to hit the people on chest and abdomen like Jallianwalla Bagh. History will never forget the incident and forgive those who committed the brutality," the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha said. Story Link

Shambhu Manna recalls the horrors clearly, how he and thousands of fellow villagers of Nandigram decided to defy orders to take over their land, the stone-throwing that followed, and then, the hail of bullets.
Sitting in a hospital in the Nandigram beside his injured mother, Manna, 35, says: "I suddenly heard that the police were coming. Then I saw the Communist Party of India-Marxist, CPI(M) men behind the police.
"We hurled stones at the cops, which led to tear-gassing and then suddenly there was a fusillade of bullets. One hit my mother in the leg."
On Wednesday, policemen and CPI(M) cadres attacked villagers with firearms and other weapons to retake the land after the farmers dug up roads, threw logs and armed themselves to prevent the West Bengal government from taking over the land for a proposed special economic zone (SEZ).

"I am visiting my mother for the first time since that day. I had run away but my mother was hit by a bullet. I could not find her initially," Manna of Sonachura village in Nandigram said.
"We were about 15,000 people and we all ran for life," he recalled, admitting that women and children were put on the forefront since they expected to use them as shields. But the brute force of the state-sponsored land takeover operation belied that trust. Story link
