The average guy received a 3.9 percent raise this year, leaving him well short of the $227,229 a year he told us he’d need to be “completely satisfied” with his financial situation.

If a pay raise isn’t likely, then quit fooling yourself. University of Illinois researchers found that people are happier when the material possessions they desire are within reach. In other words, forget the Ferrari and save for a Corvette instead.

According to a Hong Kong bacteriologist, as many as 178,000 different types of bacteria (9,500 E. coli relatives alone) can reside on paper currency. Why? Wear and tear creates nooks and crannies in which fecal matter and figurative crap can hide. Handling money is like shaking hands with its previous owner, so during flu season, wash your hands after every transaction.
