Einstein's Illusive dream realized by Indian scientists

Wasnt that a catchy title?? Thats bloggy PR for you for something that is so technical I can’t even begin to comprehend!!

But. this is a wonderful news anyhow – although I can’t make much of what the fuss is here about 🙂 There are the facts: Indian scientists at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) have found answer to a puzzle that eluded Einstein. Hmm .. thats impressive. What have they done? Here is a clue from a Rediff report:

They have found and proposed an experimental test for the quantum theory of gravity, the first step to unify the forces of nature that rule the universe on a large scale and the quantum forces that govern the atomic world.

And they seem to have proved that a dying or collapsing star does NOT turn into a black hole or a Naked Singularitybut that it throws away all its matter in the form of an explosive burst – quite like a fireball/flash!

Now, these scientists are a patient lot mind you.. they are waiting for this unique Observatory to be launched by the European Space Agency … in 2010!! Wow! Thats some patience. “Ok, guys go have your vacation.. next phase of the project will be resumed 5 years from now!!” Experiments on THAT Observatory will help us understand more about the full quantum theory of gravity (unification of all forces of nature). Cool! I will be clued in for the breaking news!
