Scot McKnight has a great post on Why Be Anglican? referring primarily to the beauty and wonder of the liturgical year. It’s a great post and Scot talks about his own journey into Anglicanism as well.
In addition, for my own amusement, and perhaps even yours, I have included a further list of ten reasons for being Anglican!
Why be Anglican? Reason # 10 – Seasonal colours, Trinity Sunday, we have wine, and you get to say “Eucharist.”
Why be Anglican? Reason # 9 – Africa is like the Anglican HQ!
Why be Anglican? Reason # 8 – Did I not mention Cranmer, Ridley, and Hooker?
Why be Anglican? Reason # 7 – Because you get to renounce Baptist ecclesiology and all of his works! [FYI, I’m writing this from Houston Baptist University where I’m teaching today, love my Baptist friends!]
Why be Anglican? Reason # 6 – Trinitarian prayers, celebrate Christ in the Eucharist, and preach like a Reformer!
Why be Anglican? Reason # 5 – Because our clergy look like a cross between a Jedi and Jesuit!
Why be Anglican? Reason # 4 – Because bishops get to wear imperial purple!
Why be Anglican? Reason # 3 – Because Anglicanism is what the Catholic Church would look like if it embraced the reformation!
Why be Anglican? Reason # 2 – Packer, Stott, McGrath, Wright, so all the cool kids are doing it!
Why be Anglican? Reason #1 – Because even F.F. Bruce, lifelong brethren, read the Book of Common Prayer every day!
