I cut all my hair off this morning! I was getting so bored rocking the weave ponytails all summer & I can’t afford the $60-$80 touch-up, press, cut & bump. The costs of course rule out getting braids or twists either.
I started off thinking I’d just trim a little but ended up thinking, “why not just cut all of my perm out?” My hair was about shoulder length with the top half being my naturally curly style and the bottom half being straightened by a permanent relaxer. In other words: a hot mess that I couldn’t style without busting out the hot comb! Who has time or energy to sit and press my hair and in my fragile condition?! 🙂
So, I just cut out as much as the perm as I could.
I am left with this…

I don’t love it. Well, truth be told, I don’t even like it. However, I don’t have to have it pulled down on my face like that –just trying something new.
Also, I haven’t had my hair natural for so long I didn’t have the right products at home. Once I get some good curling mousse & gel I’m sure I’ll like it better. And my hair is not “used to being curly” right now… it will take a few days to respond accordingly.
Once the baby is born I may even go shorter (almost bald) so it will be a lot easier to maintain.
Instead of weave ponytails, you’ll probably see me now with a lot of headbands, head scarves & bobby pins all over my head trying -as Tim Gunn would say- to “make it work.” 🙂
Here’s to hair risks, ladies!
