Instacasting

Instacast is in my top 10 of all time favorite & useful apps. It allows you to download and manage all your podcasts from your phone. No sync fussing, no cords, no computer. It’s fab.

My usuals in fairly heavy rotation:

-The Moth Podcast – RUN, don’t walk to listen to these everyday people share extraordinary self-told stories.

Of note from this past month:

-From The Moth: Maurice Ashley: Slaying King George. A man recounts his path to becoming the first African American Chess Grandmaster.

-From NPR Fresh Air: Maria Bamford. “The comedian’s routines tackle some of the really serious problems she has: OCD, bipolar disorder, suicidal thoughts. But you have to laugh because she’s that funny.” Oh. my. goodness. Laughed till I cried in this one. This woman is hilarious.

App’ing

-I met & fell in love with the Rhonna Designs app this month. Pitter doggone patter. Rhonna does this..

The Rhonna app makes A Beautiful mess app look like a HOT mess.  I’m just sayin’, y’all…

-Donna – An app to track your calender and schedule & remind you of junk.  Verdicts out.  I need to figure out if I’m going to be able to integrate it with the calendering system set up at my job.  For my personal calender though, it seems useful enough.

-The First 90 Days – An app that you read (or watch) a small amount each day which helps you walk through the 1st 90 days at a new job or in a new position. On July 16, I started a new position!

Music’ing

-Cannot get enough of Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke (I LOVE all his music) & Mirrors by Justin Timberlake.

Loving

-Days at the beach with my boys

-My new job (squee)!

Doing

-One of my besties came over & helped me transform our our old “baby room/nursery” into a Hot Wheels City Scape room for both our boys. Hoping to do a how-we-did-it tutorial-ish post on this later.  Note the look on both their faces after we finally let them in after a grueling 48 hr. wait of non-stop “Mama, are you done YET?”

-I started juicing.  More on this later.

-Starting a proposal for Detroit’s Daughter, the memoir I’ve been plugging away at for the past 8-ish years!

-Went to Blogher ’13! Started a new job! Came back from my social media fast! It’s been a BIG month of busy & fruituful transition. I’ve been really, really thankful. God is faithful.

-Just wrapped up a 10 wk. Bible study at my Church through Beth Moore’s King David, Seeking a Heart Like His workbook.  It was very good.  I believe it was one of the most important investments of my time all summer.  I feel rich in knowledge & community.
