Malaria Bites. When Justice + Fashion Collide

Malaria Bites. When Justice + Fashion Collide April 4, 2012

Did you know that a child dies of malaria every 30 seconds?

Every 30 seconds!

Compassion’s Malaria Intervention fund intervenes by providing children in poverty with mosquito nets.  That’s why I’m more than happy to give a blog post to Compassion, especially when it’s for a good cause.  This is NOT a sponsored post.

From now until April 9,  Compassion International is teaming up with Sevenly to help spread the word about Malaria.

Malaria bites.  When I took a trip to Kenya back in ’97 I saw first hand the devastating effects of Malaria on vulnerable children.  It was heartbreaking.  I was 19 and not yet a mother.  But those images are seared in my brain.  As a Mama now, I can’t imagine the HELPLESSNESS of not being able to afford a mosquito net for my precious babies.

Sevenly exist to “harness the power of art and community to build sustainable awareness and funding movements that support charities in their efforts to change the world.”

Here’s where YOU + FASHION come in…

1.  Until April 9,  if you sponsor a child you will receive a free t-shirt from Sevenly. (Be sure to use this link in order to get the free t-shirt). There’s also some for the fella’s!

OR

2. Until April 9, if you  buy a t-shirt from Sevenly, $7.00 will be donated to provide a life-saving mosquito net to children in Rwanda.

Here’s one tangible way you can help children in poverty AND get a pretty cute tee.

If your a blogger, be sure to spread the word. If not, share this post on facebook or Twitter.  Let’s get these babies the mosquito nets they desperately need!
