From his first plane ride, to smiling, laughing, posing and sleeping through sessions and being held by about 15 different people… …it was such a joy to have little Reesey-Bear with me last week for IV’s black staff conference.  It was crazy stressful flying solo with him but there is something about airports and Mama’s –everyone comes out of the woodwork to be helpful. I could go on and on about how awesome the conference was and how much I... Read more

Yesterday, Rhys & I set off for IV’s National Black Staff conference in Atlanta.  I nursed Rhys on lift off to help decrease the effects of cabin pressure on popping little ears.  I think as a thank you, Rhys spent the rest of both flights doing this… Like usual, it’s been a great time of catching up with all my staff peeps from around the country, drinking deeply from God’s Word, laughing our heads off and enjoying each others company.... Read more

Okay, so I’m know I’m a little bit late to start thinking about lent. Hey, I’m not Catholic.  I didn’t grow up thinking about lent.  Ever.  It’s only been in the past few years that I’ve been able to own it as a spiritual discipline of my own.  Lemme tell ya, it’s been so good for me. If your interested in joining in on the fun, read on.  No membership required to Catholic Christianity or anything else… So how late... Read more

RHYS: Last night our little Reesey-Bear had his first serving of… At first it was all so very confusing… But eventually he warmed up to up nicely… He even started crying in between bites, anticipating the next one… Until he finished the last drop with a smile… RANSOM: Our little handsome Ransom built & conquered his first… This may be the first year Ran has enjoyed actually playing in the snow as opposed to around the snow.  He goes out... Read more

In a few words: exhilarating, prayerful, stressful, awesome, amazing & worthwhile! Last weekend I directed my 1st ever completely-on-my-own regional black student conference: IGNITE!  Due to my recent maternity leave, the whole thing from top to bottom was planned by me and a co-worker, Shaylen J. in a little under 7 weeks!  It was on the smaller side as conferences go -55 total including staff and volunteers- but no less important.  I’m prayerfully trying to build momentum for black student... Read more

One of my bestest buds is having her first baby. A bouncing, beautiful baby boy ~ hurrah! The little ankle biter is set to make his debut this summer & I couldn’t be more excited. I all ready love little Bashir El Faukhoury.  Pronounced buh-sheer-el-fah-who-ree with an “r” tongue roll on sheer & the ree. Got that? 🙂  Bashir means “well educated & wise,” which is absolutely perfect if you knew his Mama -smart as a whip, that woman. I... Read more

Or not.  I’m actually a STRONG  “p” on the Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator personality tests.  That means one thing: us “p’s” generally speaking, struggle don’t what in the heck is going on or know how to organize in a structured way because we prefer to live a life of chaos adapt. My current position in InterVarsity is to coordinate all the work we do with African-American students in at Colleges & Universities in our region (MI, OH, W.VA & Western PA). ... Read more
